3 College Football Best Bets For Week 1

NCAA football betting kicked off earlier this week in anticipation for the start of the season this coming Saturday. For fans new to college football betting, here are three games you want to keep your eye on.

  • Washington Huskies vs. BYU Cougars – The Washington Huskies have gone from a cellar dweller in the Pac 10 to a middle of the pack team. With their star quarterback Jake Locker and the offense being made up of seniors, look for the Huskies to take advantage of a rebuilding BYU squad. The Cougars have a lot of questions surrounding them, as they deal with a two quarterback system. Essentially, you want to take the Huskies as Jake Locker is the man in charge, where as the BYU Cougars have no clear cut leader on the offensive side of things. Look for the BYU defense to keep them in the game, but the Huskies to win the game outright.
  • Washington State vs. Oklahoma State – Washington State is in a completely different position than their co state occupants Washington. State essentially is the Detroit Lions of the BCS. For years fans have made a ton of money betting against Washington State. This year should be no different. Oklahoma State has made some minor adjustments, but expect them to win by at least four touchdowns when they face Washington State. 90 percent of the money wagered on the game is towards Oklahoma State, stick with the public on this one.
  • LSU vs. UNC This game is rather tricky to predict, but we are going to stick with the Tar Heels. The Tar Heels have six of seven All Americans on the defensive side of things. However, there is a possibility that three of the six defensive players may be suspended for the first game due to misconduct. Nevertheless, LSU is a rather overrated team, their offense is garbage and the only thing they have going for them is their linebackers. As a result we feel the safest bet regardless of who is in the Tar Heel line up, is to stick with the Tar Heels.

3 Tips To Picking A Sportsbook

Since the sportsbook industry first started out in the early 90s, the betting online has grown from a handful to hundreds of shops. For the fan new to online sportsbook betting, having hundreds of shops to choose from can be a rather difficult task. To help you, here are three tips we use when considering joining a new sports betting shop.

1.  Reputation – Perhaps the most important factor you should consider when joining a new sportsbook is that of their reputation. Many of the top sportsbooks have been around for years, providing the best payouts and betting lines.

Questions to consider when looking at a sportsbooks reputation include how financially stable they are, and do they have quick payouts. As a sports bettor, you want two things when betting online, wagering ease and quick payouts. If either of these desires is too much to ask for at the given sportsbook, you should look elsewhere.

2.  Customer Service – As a new bettor, you are likely to have a ton of questions once signing up with your sportsbook of choice. What is important to consider is how each sportsbook operates its customer service section. For instance, in order to be in the top five of many sportsbook review polls the shops have to have stellar customer service. Yet one should keep in mind for every sportsbook that has a good customer service base, there are literally hundreds that are awful. The biggest complaint we see, is that if you send an email it may take weeks for the shop to reply. If you want excellent customer service from sportsbooks with good reputations go to BetOnline or Bodog as they are the two best.

3.  Site Traffic – Many shops say they are the best, but that tends to be just for show. Google and a wide array of other search engines enlist programs which calculate the amount of traffic each sportsbook receives. The lower the ranking the higher amount of traffic. You want a shop in the top 100 of site traffic as they will be able to help you in getting set up.

What is a Teaser Bet?

Also known as a parlay bet, a teaser bet is a wager placed on a group of games, which requires all of the games to win in order for you to receive a payout. For the experienced betting enthusiast, teaser bets are most common for betting on sports. Before the creation of teaser bets, the house usually controlled the lines and odds for games. With the creation of teaser bets, the bettor has the ability to move the line up and down in favor or against different teams.

As we noted a teaser wager requires you to bet on two or more games of any given sport. Unlike in pick'em wagering where you have the ability to still win on your bet even if some of your teams lose, teaser bets are all or nothing types of bets. Essentially teaser bets work in a two folded way. Firstly, by betting more and more matches on one given parlay, you have the ability to control your own odds so there is little room for error going into the start of the match. Secondly and on the other hand, if even one of your bets in your parlay loses, you the bettor, completely lose your entire wager.

By the end of the day you could have wagered on seven different games as part of your teaser bet, and accumulated a record of six for seven, but because that one game lost, your wager went down the toilet.

A teaser bet is normally played by experienced bettors for leagues such as the NFL and sometimes MLB. For the NFL this form of betting is common as all of the games are packed into one day, therefore this is the best time for someone to use a teaser bet.

What is A Parlay Bet?

Also known as an accumulator, a parlay bet is a teaser bet. This when gamblers betting online, spread out a number of wagers across the board resulting in the winnings to become dependent on each bet paying out. Parlay betting is both wise and silly at the same time, as one will look like a genius if all of the bets can win and they receive a high payday. Conversely, if one of the parlay bets loses, the gambler will look silly because they lost everything even though they did not lose all of the bets.

Parlay bets are paid out at higher odds then a single bet, because of the money being spread out amongst various bets. A parlay is common in casino games such as craps and roulette, as people playing these games spread out the bet's over numerous tiles on the boards.

Another place where parlay bets are used is during pick'em events for sports such as football where all of the teams play on the same day. Here the ratio of odds to win is better when spreading out over a variety of games as opposed to placing a single bet on one team.

Furthermore, parlay bets are the best for recreational gamblers as making a bet such as this, is good every once in a while as it can result in a lot of cash during a quick payout.

On sites such as proline.com parlay bets are the way to go for all sports, as this site is primarily a pick'em site.

Could This Be The Best NBA Free Agent Class In History?

Annually July 1st is the biggest day in all of professional sports, as teams in the NBA and NHL are able to sign the best players looking for new contracts. NBA betting enthusiasts second favorite time of the year kicks off in the heart of summer, and this year could be the best free agent class in history.

This year's free agent class is as big as the 2004 draft class, as superstars from that draft, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh each are eligible to sign with a new franchise in hopes of capturing the elusive NBA title. After each player's current clubs the Cavaliers, Heat and Raptors had disappointing results this past season, all three superstars appear to be wanting a fresh start elsewhere.

Further all three players are represented by the same agency and many fans betting on where the trio will land suspect, two if not all three may play together for one lucky team. Two teams reported to have the money for at least two of the three are the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls. Of the two, the Knicks have the advantage financially as they were able to clear enough cap space to acquire two key off season additions. Fans should know that experts predict that if money is the main factor in James, Wade or Bosh leaving their current teams, the Knicks are the most lucrative option. Conversely, experts believe that if Lebron James leaves the Cavaliers he will end up in Chicago in hopes of helping the Bulls win a championship for the first time since James's idol and hall of famer Michael Jordan did so in 1998. Experts also believe that where James goes, so will Bosh and possibly Wade.
